Universal Cadillac Rubber Rear Main Seal Filler Shim REPRODUCTION

REPRODUCTION. You are purchasing a universal rubber rear main seal filler shim. If your new rubber replacement rear main seal is still leaking, it could be a problem with the sealing surface. Occasionally, this strip is required to help fill or shim the gap, and typically more than one may be required. This strip is made from heavy duty gasket paper and would be trimmed to fit upon installation. We have seen this happen more often in 429 V8 Cadillac Engines, but can happen in other models where the engine has been line bored (or align bored). This engine machining process can remove material where the rear main seal goes and the seal cannot grab onto the crank enough. If you have tried several rear main seals with no luck, this might be your solution.
